mysql connection using PHP

I've tried isntalling MySQL + PHP on OpenBSD 3.1, all
went ok, but when a tried to connect to MySQl using a
PHP code, there it does not works.

test.php -->

<?
echo "MySQL Test With PHP";
//$link = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "BSD") or
die ("doesnt'work!");
?>


but dosen't works it doesen't appears anything ,,
simply a white screen!
