cdrecord hangs on 3.2 GENERIC

Hello,
I've tried to burn a cd using cdrecord and after a few seconds it
hung my system and falled into DDB.
I'm wondering if there is any incompatibility with my hardware or else.
I'm using a generic kernel on an i386 based mainboard.
I have an Adaptec AHA2940 40Mb/s running an IBM DNES 9Gb drive
and a Yamaha F1 IDE burner with a SCSI changer.
I got the latest cdrecord package (aka cdrtools-1.10p1).
My hard drive is on ID0 and the berner on ID3 (scsibus1, lun0)
I'd noticed that cdrecord -scanbus returned errors complaining
it couldn't communicate with the scsi driver, but thought it'll
be ok as the burn started and recognized the media and drive.
This box worked fine under linux with the same cdrtools version, so
i'm a bit confused.
Thanks for any relevant track to look at.
