Re: More on SATA cards

I have very good expiriences with the icp-vortex cards
I am using <http://www.icp-vortex.com/english/product/pci/rz_sata/8546rz_e.htm>

The only problem is that the online utility is only available forlinux and freebsd
(<http://www.icp-vortex.com/ftp/download/rz_neu/freebsd/drivers/readme.txt> ) so you
haveto shutdown openbsd for raid mainiatnace ....
anyway running a RAID1 or a raid 5 + Hostspare will rebuild on failture. I would recomed
Having at least 3 SATA Drives on an raid 1 if you cannot maintain the raid online.

I played with the Adaptec SATA/Dell CERC SATA product and works fine. I
am also relatively sure I played with the LSI/Dell CERC SATA as well
however I am not 100% sure (could have been the PATA version).

Maybe you can give me a hint of a card without a jungle of chipset and
I'll
buy it directly.
