My experience with North America to Africa (West Africa) is that at 
best it takes 10 days.  I would expect 3 to 4 weeks.  These numbers 
are for air mail.  I would guess South Africa would be a bit faster
but you never know.

For surface mail, you may not see them for another six months or a 
year.  I'm not kidding.  For some reason surface mail is marginally
cheaper but takes quite a bit longer.
