Just thought I'd post a nice success story about the great quality of
OpenBSD's code and documentation. I got an assignment at work that I
had to have 7 firewalls up and running, each with a VPN to the other
6, for a total of 42 VPNs, in less than a week. Using manual key'ing
with ipsecadm and a shell script similar to rc.vpn in
/usr/share/ipsec, I did it in a few days. They originally wanted
Mandrake Linux, however I was able to convince the 7 different
locations that OpenBSD would be a better choice for many reasons, and
would be easier to maintain/update, and they let me (huge leap in
corporate/government world, as they only usually want Linux, and say,
what's OpenBSD?). This wonderful operating system has made my job a
lot easier, as I've used it to solve problems for customers in the
past (and convinced most to buy a CD set) and usually the customer
then becomes a devout OpenBSD fan, wanting to get future releases.
Thanks again to the OpenBSD team for this quality operating system
(and I do buy my own CD set since 2.6 when I first started using it,
and have donated in the past as well).
Jason
