Hi,
I am having trouble configuring a remote printer to work with my
openBSD 3.6 box. I'll try to give as many pertinent details as I can:
I have opeBSD installed on a IBM Thinkpad 600X which is connected to a
NETGEAR router(WGR614 v4) via an ADMTek AN983 PCMCIA network adapter
using DHCP. My internet
connection is fully operational(after performing a dhclient on the
network card). My HP Deskjet 612c is connected directly to my Desktop
computer-Z2DT is the name of my desktop (serial port) which is running
Windows XP Home Edition (also connected to the router). I tried
editing the printcap file; uncommenting the
"lp" line and changing it to read:
lp:line printer on Z2DT:\
:lp=/dev/lp:sd=/var/spool/output:lf=/var/loglpd=errs:
:rm=Z2DT:rp=lp
ps|Ghostscript driver on Z2DT:\
:lp=:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:lf=/var/log/lp=errs:\
:mx#0:\
:rm=Z2DT:rp=ps
I also edited rc.conf by uncommenting the line lpd_flags and changing
the value to "" instead of "NO"
When I run lpc>status, it says that queuing is enabled, printing is
enabled, 3 entries in spool area and printer idle. ps: queuing is
enabled, printing is enabled, cannot examine spool directory.
When I try to run lpr I get: /dev/lp:No such file or directory.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Zeigler
