Can't access umass

[steve_(_dot_)_shockley_(_at_)_shockley_(_dot_)_net]

I've got a no-name "7-in-1" usb card reader, and I'm trying to read a Sony
memory stick.  I can't mount it, fdisk it, or disklabel it.  All attempts
result in "Operation not supported by device".  There's also a SCSI error
in the dmesg, I'm guessing they're related.  The device appears to work in
Windows and Knoppix.  Any ideas?
