Try ssh -V
If you are up to date you should get

eris% ssh -V
OpenSSH_4.0, OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004 (or even newer than that)

But when you followed the FAQ, the system should be up to date!?

You're sure there was no error updating the sources via cvs?
Have you downloaded the sources in the right directory?
