Hi everyone,
For a couple of weeks now I'm having problems starting kdm on a -current
system.
I start kdm from the command line (user: root). An X process appears and it
seems like it tries to spawn a child, but that fails miserably and this game
is repeated forever. Once I kill the kdm process, X comes up.
I get the following error message immediately after starting kdm:
kdm[PID]: X server startup timeout, terminating
This message gets repeated all the time. After a minute or so, I get a
"message repeated 800 times" on the console.
Since xdm works like a charm, this should be an issue with kdm (and thus ports
is the right list).
I can reproduce this on a Sun Blade 100 (sparc64), but not on a i386 system.
kdm configuration has been created using genkdmconf but it's the same without
any kdm configuration.
/var/log/kdm.log shows only this entry:
