One other thing (that I've never messed about with before) is that when I
disklabel -B, it says /usr/mdec/wdboot not found (or somesuch). In
/usr/mdec, there are 4 files: biosboot, boot, installboot, and mbr.
I fell into this same trap. But unlike me, you have no excuse, because I
fixed the man page:
NOTES
On i386 machines, installboot(8) is normally used to install boot code.
The -B option to disklabel can still be used to install old style boot
code, but this usage is deprecated.
