No, apparently it uses a TI chip. I cvs up'd the latest kernel mods
last night, and compiled the latest GENERIC. Then, I installed MSDOS on
the laptop, booted both machines into MSDOS, and copied over the latest
kernel. It added a lot more lines, maybe these are informative:

Any idea what a pchb0 is? No man page. Nothing matching in the
specifications.

According to the specifications page for this Gateway 2500, there is a
TI-1220 with 32-bit CardBus support and Zoomed Video.

Any BSDs or Linux supporting that?

Good ol' Theo told me it means "not" "configured", so helpful! :-(

Anyway, I simply don't understand how the IDE controller is not
configured, but the IDE HD and CDROM show up anyway.
