Some of you may remember an obscure problem i was having with my machine
locking up, or going into a serious sleep mode, and requiring a lot of
slapping around for it to wake up. If i kept a ping going from internal
through obsd firewall to the world, constantly, the problem never showed
up.
Well, this was with OBSD 2.5. I just finished installing 2.6 fresh last
night (ie. i didn't upgrade), and left the machine alone for 10 hours.
After that it still responded nicely. I think the problem is gone.
This is with a kernel recompile using the unaltered config from my 2.5
system, the same NAT and IPF rules files, same network cards, hardware,
etc etc...
I still don't know what was causing it. Not for lack of looking, believe
me. I've given up on that and am now just happy that it works :)
Once again, bravo to the authors :)
Cheers,
D
