xl0 wierdness

I am using a 3com 3c905B pci ethernet adaptor, and I noticed a lot of
dropped packets last night with the errors "command never completed".

This is the relevant piece from dmesg, the entire dmesg is attached below.

Dec 9 09:31:52 eris /bsd: xl0 at pci0 dev 9 function 0 vendor 0x10b7
product 0x9055 rev 0x30: irq 10xl0: command never completed!
Dec 9 09:31:52 eris /bsd: exphy0 at xl0 phy 24: 3Com internal media
interface

This is from my /var/log/messages last night while the problem was
occuring.

Dec 8 13:05:00 eris /bsd: xl0: command never completed!
Dec 8 13:21:45 eris /bsd: xl0: command never completed!
Dec 8 13:58:45 eris /bsd: xl0: command never completed!
Dec 8 21:33:09 eris /bsd: xl0: bad receive status -- packet droppedxl0:

droppedxl0: bad receive status -- packet dropped

After searching both the
tech@ and misc@ archives I found 4 references to this problem:

from misc@
199910/msg00254:Re: *Now* is the time to test snapshots.
199910/msg00843:BPF causes panic under high load

from tech@
199903/msg00009:if_xl
199911/msg00253:IPsec strangeness

However, I didn't see any thing further such as a fix. Here are the
relevant statistics for yesterday from my daily output:

xl0 1500 <Link> 00:10:5a:15:24:9e 85924 610 78598 0 15
xl0 1500 h216-170-01 eris 85924 610 78598 0 15

Throughout the evening I noticed a real problem with steadily decreasing
throughput, which appears to be fixed by a reboot. Is this a known problem
with the 3com 3c905?

Any enlightenment is appreciated, particularly vis-a-vis this problem.
