Some times I feel like a dunce
Some times I dont...
to all that have tried to help thanx...
I got the clue in the misc group....
the motherboards I am using ARE PCI motherboards
the panic is for a probe for a NOT FOUND component the isadma
SO to fix temporarily simply do a boot -c
and disable isadma....
for a permanent fix create a custom kernel
that lacks the appropriate isadma device...
gwen
N.B. the other reason the isadma panic cannot create map is due to
an adaptec aic series controller not being supported
I understand from earlier comments that the code may show in cvs after the
Xmas vacation to support this controller... if you dont see a
drive after sucessful boot of the floppy on a non-isa machine after
doing the above workaround then you will have to wait....
(yes I have another machine running into that issue also)
as a matter of fact I have 3 machines now running with a memory
of 1 GB... works GREAT....
