Instead of ALTQ, what about porting freebsd's dummynet ?
ALTQ can only shape outgoing streams, where dummynet can also shape
incoming streams, which makes it really interesting for gateway /
firewalls where you want to shape client's http activity.
Somewhere between fbsd 4.1 and 4.1.1 they added WFQ+ to dummynet, so
it's not a static shaper anymore.
I don't know how much work would be needed to port it, so if this idea
is totally insane, just call me fool ! :)
