Because of these types of warnings, we found that a certain French maker
of networking kit has a switch which leaks broadcast traffic across
VLANs. :^( (that's in the firmware revs which don't crash at
_attempts_ to snmpwalk certain parts of the MIB, even without a valid
community)
The warning is useful. Sometimes as a sign to say "bin this kit" when
the vendor refuses to ack it as a problem.
