Hi,
I'm currently running 2.9 on my Compaq laptop with a 3COM NIC. I
am getting xl0: watchdog timeout errors. This error stops my network
connection. up/down'ing the interface doesn't do anything. I have to
shutdown and reboot and hope that I don't get it again for a bit. I've
been searching for a solution on this for several months now with no
answers (though it seems like there are A LOT of questions about it).
I dug through the source but only found the xl.c file so far where
the error is generated. I can't seem to find anything that would be
disabling the interface (unless the hardware is disabling itself which I
find unlikely since I run several other OS's on this hardware without
problems -- in fact, I'm dual booting Progeny Debian and OpenBSD on the
same disk and Windows 2000 on another disk with no problems on the other
OS's).
Does anyone have any further information? I'm going to dig further
into the source to see if I can find the offending calling function but
wondered whether anyone had any solutions to this annoying problem.
Thanks,
Ric
