Prism 2.5 HostAP + WEP not working....

Sorry if this has already been covered but I have not been able to
find anything solid on this topic.
please forgive me if this is the wrong list, let me know if this is
not the correct list, and I will resend to the appropriet list.

I have an OpenBSD 3.6 box with the following hardware:
* AMD K6 333MHz CPU
* 128MB RAM, 6GB Fujitsu hard drive
* Intel 82557 dual port 10/100Mbps NIC
* Netgear MA311 802.11b PCI adapter (Prism 2.5)
* Hawking 6dBi omni-directional antenna

fxp0 has a external IP 66.x.x.x, fxp1 has an IP of 172.16.1.254 and is
bridged with wi0.
wi0 is configured for HostAP mode, clients can connect to the SSID, IP
traffic passes through
without any problems.
Once I enable wep either by command line or editing /etc/hostname.wi0
and adding -e 1 -k passs
The WiFi client can still connect to the access point after
reconfiguring for WEP, but no IP traffic is passed.
running brconfig bridge0 shows the MAC address of the laptop clients
wifi card, and the wired ethernet clients.

So my question is: does the wi driver support WEP in HostAP mode?

Here is the dmesg:
