Because bzip2 offers better compression? Having decompression support
it base makes using bzip2 distfiles for ports much more sensible.
This saves bandwidth and more those with slow connection also time.
If you consider bzip2 slow, try 7zip. It does an even better job
at compressing data, but needs *much* more time.
