UNfortunately, Super Chunk started playing at 5. Luckly, I did get see them them play for about 15-20 min.. They were really good live, they moved around alot and were pretty exciting. I was disappointed at the meger Vassar response (there were alot of people there, but alot of them were so wasted they were just lying on the lawn, and alot of people weren't paying that much attention). I knew alot of the songs I heard them play, so that was pretty cool also. But the best part was after the show. I saw that they were selling Super Chunk t-shirts at one of the boths. They were selling for $13 bucks, but I only had ten bucks on me. I asked a few people I knew if the could spot me the cash, but they all claimed they were broke. I was dissappointed, so I looked around for an alternative. I walked over to the band(they were packing up there equipment), and asked Jon Wurster and Jim Wilburif I could borrow three bucks. They both siad they didn't have any money. I said "Please, I need it to buy one of your shirts." Then Jim said something about him giving me money so I could buy one of their shirts kinda defeated the purpose. One of the roadies starting advising me. He told me to go ask the Laura Ballance, but to mention the shirt before the money. I took his advice, but she said she didn't have any money either. Then the roadie told me to ask Mac McCaughan, cause he was a really nice guy. Mac told me to go talk to their finicial type person, who was on the stage talking to some Vassar guy. I explained my plight to her, and she said that they ussually sold the shirts for $10, but Vassar was getting 30% of the profits, so they had to sell them for more. She said once she had all the shirts back in her possesion and they were officially done with Vassar, she could sell one to me for $10. So, I waited for about 10 min., got to hear how many shirts they sold (Only $144 worth, $154 after I bought mine), and bought a nice green "hyper" shirt from her. I walked over to the band, and said "Look, guys, I got it." THey all congradulated me and the Roadie gave me a hi five. It was very cool. Matthew Parker MADPARKER@vassar.edu
