Yes, I know that it's been a while since the last letter, BUT the band really isn't up to all that much now and, heck, the last mailer was quite a mouthful (which helps to make up for the lag. I was overwhelmed...weren't you?) So, there are only a few brief tidbits, but I will probably be talking to Jon within a few days, so I might have some follow-up info next week. >Matt (the lord and master of the "here with Superchunk" web page) has been school-swapping again. He's now at NYU instead of U-Mich. Which means that EVERYTHING CHANGES! Just kidding... the pages are still at the current address, but once Matt finishes redecorating his new pad, they probably will change. Don't worry though, the old pages probably will still be up for a while to direct you to the new site address. When he does get the new URL, i'll be sure to pass it along. I can tell you, however, that he does have a new email address: chunk@monkey.org (although his old address @umich.edu still works for now, too) please make a note of this.... >And speaking of web sites, Merge is setting one up. I got a sneak peak at part of it and it's very cool. The web version of the web logo is pretty spiffy, too. I'll pass on the URL for that when that's done, too. >A tidbit of info: As some of you know, Superchunk released an Australian-only EP in 1994 called "On Paper It Made Perfect Sense," which was: The U.S. Driveway To Driveway Single (Driveway To Driveway, plus acoustic versions of Driveway To Driveway, Seed Toss, and Sick To Move) as well as three live tracks (You Cheat Yourself of Everything That Moves (a verlaines cover), Fishing, and This Is The Only Piece That You'll Get.) HOWEVER, it turns out that some early copies also include three other live tracks: 1. Shallow End (one of the early performances of the song; Mac calls it "Stay In The Shallow End") 2. Driveway To Driveway (up-tempo and relatively drum-heavy) 3. Tossing Seeds (also up-tempo and relatively drum-heavy) ...pretty intresting, huh? (thanks to Steve for stumbling onto this) >Some show info, from the mouth: *MergeNight at CMJ: portastatic, lambchop, spent, guv'ner, neutral milk hotel all at the west beth theater (which is in NYC) - tickets probably just from the venue, phone # 212 691 2272 - friday sept. 6...porta starts at 8:30. *Superchunk: Sept. 7 in Long Island: mac: "the only details that i know are that the show is at Stonybrook, Long Island -- a university show so it could be early and student id thing could be weird (hopefully anyone can get in)...all i know right now..." (i'll try to ask about this when i talk to Jon or Mac again and get out any new info by mon. or tues. of next week.) well, that's all for now - i hope to bring you more within days, but I just wanted to get this much out now. If you're new to the list, welcome! I promise you'll see a more regular mailer in the weeks to come (this isn't the norm, i assure you.) Look for more chunk plowin' through your modem soon -d a v e
