This is the best comment I've seen on racial profiling in general, and the British plane incident in particular:

Shorter various blogospheric wingnuts: the government's appalling lack of racism gives people no recourse but to take racism into their own hands.

Maybe airlines can have passengers vote on who is too swarthy to fly. They can advertise muslim-free flights, which would cost a bit more, of course.
