The work that he did with the Smiths as well as his solo work is quite intelligent, at times a bit self indulgent (but aren't we all to some extent) but always tongue and cheek. I love the way he seems to battle between self love and loathing. Your posts always seem very insightful and fair, I'm surprised to see you post this (no offense). Maybe it's because the Smiths/Morrissey has at times meant almost as much to me as New Order I just figured almost all NO fans would like them on some level. - -----Original Message----- From: John A. Hi lotsa pple, I've just come back from a record fair today, and i found a unique item never mentionned anywhere. This is a french promo release of MONACO. You knew there was the FR promo album M4P w/ custom sleeve and the Sweet Lips Promo CDsingle w/ all the mixes. Now i've found a unique French video featuring : 1) WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME ? (casino version) 2) SWEET LIPS 3) ELECTRONIC PRESS KIT (named "EPK") including excerpts from Joy Division : LWTUA NewOrder : Blue Monday 88 NewOrder : True Faith (radio edit) and several Monaco excerpts What Do You Want From Me Sweet Lips and also can be heard : Junk, Shine, Happy Jack (no Dave, not you !)... and Hooky & Potssy interviewed about their group. it's english spoken only, SECAM video format (that good old french SECAM...) with a unique PS... from Polydor France "INTERDIT A LA VENTE" with no CAT#. And that's not all. I picked myself a copy, but the guy has other copies, so i picked another, up for an AUCTION. People interested, name your price. (I had the choice, picking another copy or getting a Dandy Warhols Promo CD... i chose Monaco :-) Just a word to tell you the Monaco videos suck. lip-synching, naive backgrounds, stupid scenarios... just my opinion. Copies are floating around. I have a bootleg, but the quality is deplorable (maybe the pal --> ntsc thing has something to do with it) probably a third gen at the newest. That's the story that I heard, correct me if I'm wrong. I don't even think they got to the point of assigning a FAC number. I'll check Mr. Remmer's database and let you know if I find info to the contrary... - -john frye - ------- + To post to the list, send mail to . + Ceremony mailing list web page: http://www.monkey.org/~laps/ceremony/ + To talk to a person, send mail to . ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 16:10:29 -0700 From: "John A. Only Regret is a cool version. It has some female voices during the song and the singing is kind of interesting, all over a strong synthbass and synthdrums line that may become a little boring, but that's what trance is about, isn't it?
