There are countless subtle differences, including that at the start of the track, the third clap is a 32nd-beat late; and that Bernard starts going at the bell a bit earlier in the rarities CD version. Listen to them back-to-back (don't many of us have the mp3 off the video that's gone around?) and I'm sure you'll notice differences I haven't. Anyway... they're as different as any two consecutive live takes of the same track. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. Hey all,

Quick question for the Canadians on the list.  Where are you purchasing Retro from?
I've been looking around and the copies with the bonus disk are at least $20-$25 more than without.  Have you found a good source at a reasonable price?

Thanks and happy early new year!

Maybe there is a chance to get the tape changed or to get a refund. But one of the dealer asked a question.....Are you sure actually a good copy of the tape exists? I am talking of the videocassette with the gig in the Brixton Academy on October the 12th 2001. Its a while that I heard this video has been spotted but its not very common....Nobody mention to have it on this list or in the forums. So, as far as you know....Does this video actually exists? Have I a chance to get my video changed with the good one? If you know or if you own this video please let me know. (Rage is an OZ music video show - New Order were guest programmers). Stephen played 'Since I Left You' by the Avalanches. Hooky then says something like "Didn't you and Gillian do a track called Avalanche once?", to which Stephen replies "Yeah but we released it as New Order"! I just found that interesting - Republic was certainly not a united effort in many respects. - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Dec '88 Gmex - gadz my memory sucks, I forgot the exact date - as well as 6-6-87 Roxy Sheffield amongst some of the more "famously" taped gigs like Glasters 87 and RAH 10-6-86 etc etc - as John Brown and "Dennis" kept a 10 Foxton Road address in Cambridge, I used to have his total address memorized but just remember the 10 Foxton Road right now, but they had adverts in Record Collector back in 1991 and who knows what other publications, I did send him some quality Dinosaur and Nirvana tapes so it's not like I was the only one who benefited from our swaps) and anyway while we were chatting some people were asking him about video quality/etc., and he said a few times "Well if you're not happy with it you're welcome to return it and get something else next week" as it appeared he was consistently selling videos in Camden every Saturday, or it was just a line he made up. So maybe the video dealers do take returns and such, although that would shock me, basically when you're dealing in stolen goods, it's caveat emptor (bad Latin!), you should be glad you weren't arrested for trafficking in stolen goods, as you know drug buyers get into trouble as well :-) Get 511 instead - if you really want quality New Order concert vids, get anything from 1986 and 1987 because those videos are really good. Whether it's Academy or one of the private-films, it's all ace. Also can anyone make a quality DVD copy of Leuven Dec '85 (I wanna say Dec 10 but I just cannot remember, fuck!) and make it for weed distribution here? Does anyone know who filmed the 8-25-87 Pier gig, I got my copy from Graeme in Vancouver but he didn't remember who gave it to him. Ditto for 1-28-85 Michael Sorbell Sports Centre (both ace film *and* audience recordings - but different tapers). I was there & the sound was indeed rubbish at times, but it was outdoors & to be expected, etc. It settled down after a while as most outdoors gigs do. As for the DVD: Sometimes the levels are dodgy - I didn't mind this TOO much, though it's nowhere near as well polished as Reading. However! I can hear proper distortion (ie, recording levels too high or mastered badly) during several tracks. Doesn't sound digital, just too loud to desk/master, etc. I honestly hoped it was just my DVD, but it looks like we've all been shafted with a less than great effort. I wouldn't mind in the least if the DVD had liner notes explaining that the soundtrack is sometimes compromised, but of course it says nothing. After all, I mention it once & several people come out in agreement - I wonder how many more people are wondering exactly the same...? ade. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-ceremony@monkey.org [mailto:owner-ceremony@monkey.org]On Behalf Of Andrew Balgobin Sent: 01 January 2003 18:36 To: 'ceremony' Subject: Re: (Fac33) Unheard of dvd/video yes i have. its terrible. i thought it was just my copy for a while, but its either poorly recorded, or just the sound that day was bad. people who were at the gig would be able to tell us more i guess. andrew - ----- Original Message ----- From: "ade" To: "'Nicolas LeBlanc'" ; "'John Barnes'" ; "'ceremony'" Sent: Wednesday, January 01, 2003 4:52 PM Subject: RE: (Fac33) Unheard of dvd/video > Probably already been said, but has anyone noticed poor sound on their 511 > DVD ? > > > mcn. > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-ceremony@monkey.org [mailto:owner-ceremony@monkey.org]On > Behalf Of Nicolas LeBlanc > Sent: 28 December 2002 23:59 > To: 'John Barnes'; 'ceremony' > Subject: RE: (Fac33) Unheard of dvd/video > > > Of course I meant 316.. :-( > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-ceremony@monkey.org [mailto:owner-ceremony@monkey.org] On > Behalf Of Nicolas LeBlanc > Sent: December 28, 2002 18:32 > To: 'John Barnes'; 'ceremony' > Subject: RE: (Fac33) Unheard of dvd/video > > > Guess what..
