First, it's 4:34, then the vocals are different. Which reminds me, to solve an old debate.. In A Lonely Place is different as well.. We had a long discussion on the NOOL forums about it, and Andrew Morrisson had the facts and exact timing of the differences between both versions. Here is his comment: "In A Lonely Place was indeed re-recorded and 3 versions exists, I know of no re-recorded seven inch version, so there are, in fact, three different versions of this song, and not the two as is widely considered. The main points to listen for are at about 3:15, when Hooky's bass comes in (old version: re-triggered thunderclap noise - newer version: no sound FX), and about 20 seconds from the end when the drums and music fall out the mix (old version: no sound FX - newer version: extra thunderclaps)." ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 06:46:07 -0600 From: "Ivarsson, Torbjorn (T)" Subject: RE: (Fac33) [mp3] -> _new_order__ceremony(original_mix)_ Is it re-recorded or just a different mix (to avoid the term remix)? If you have the australian cd single of 60 miles an hour, we have just discovered that the Someone Like You mix is mislabled on it, it's not the Funk D'Void mix, but it's the Futureshock Vocal Remix. [mp3] this is another great track, that's always been one of my favorites from them... for this one, i've chosen the touched by the hand of god '88 12" version' from arthur baker.. the other two mixes are excellent also, but this is definitely a must-hear version... this version is available only on a few CD versions (from the UK and Japan)... [history] new order decides to contribute several songs to the soundtrack of the movie 'salvation' several rough versions of the song appear originally, and arthur baker makes one of the early mixes however, it does not get a major release with the uk cd-single (which is mis-labelled), or with the 12"..... [review] an excellent version of 'touched by the hand of god' it's more like 'touched by the hand of dub' but it has a lot of nice variations, instrumental breaks, and still retains the intensity and complexity of the other mixes... and in some cases it surpasses it... hope you enjoy it.. feel free to post your thoughts on it... I think they know that once popular bands like Echo & The Bunnymen have now their fanbase radically reduced to a hardcore that can barely fill a club, while they're still headlinging festivals, that's amazing... I'm sure I've read other good things about fans by New Order, but I can't remember exactly right now... anyway when I met them it looked like they actually care wether the fans appreciated the show and were happy of seeing so many fans into it after more than 20 years of career... They're just not as pathetic crowd pleasers as people like Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode or U2's Bono, but we love them also for this, don't we? :-) mick: mick973@email.it the neworders: www.neworders.tk --- (or http://stop.at/theneworders ) - -- Prendi GRATIS l'email universale che... risparmia: http://www.email.it/f Sponsor: nuovissimo Sony Ericsson T68i marchiato TIM Clicca qui: http://adv2.email.it/cgi-bin/foclick.cgi?mid=552&d=10-1 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jan 2003 14:41:40 -0600 From: "-1" Subject: (Fac33) [mp3] -> _new_order_temptation(7inch)_ 'oh you've got green eyes' hi neworder'ers [files] here's the original 7 inch version of one of new orders best song... yet ANOTHER song that does NOT appear on 'retro' either....
