[history] new order's twevlth release, with 'shellshock(7 inch edit)' on the a-side.. the full version of this song came out a lot earlier on the b-side to 'murder', i have no idea why this was on the b-side for 'shellshock', however in the US, we did not get the 'shellshock (dub)', or shellcock mix..(unless you found the us 12" promo)...so they stuck 'thieves like us (instrumental)' on the b-side.. once again this a short edit of the full mix.. however it appears only on the vinyl release, and not on cd... [review] much like the vocal version, this is pretty much the same music, without the vocals of course... there might be some differences though, i'm too lazy to compare them and find out.. in itself, its one of their best instrumental tracks, majestic, uplifting, and intense...incredible keyboard work, and guitars thrown in for good measure.. one of my all time favorites... i've also cleaned up some of the pops/clicks, and reduced the noise.. hope you enjoy it.. feel free to post your thoughts on it... No matter how good one thinks BM is, listening to it 4 times on one CD is just too much. From a collector/archive perspective I can see the point, but for regular listening... ? Not for me. How do Razormaid get away with reselling their own bootleg crappy remixes of copyright material and then take umbrage at people who actually buy their material? I've heard some of their mixes and they sound like they're done with a kitchen blender for a mixing desk. They never seemed bothered about the bootleg firms who released endless "Depeche Mode Razormaid Mix" bootleg CD's and now they're going after individuals who violate their 'copyright'? And its not as if it's costing Razormaid sales, they probably sell next-to-nothing, charge far more than the items are worth and the vast majority of people don't give a shit. If someone's redistributing product sales information, that's advertising and if its not secured behind a members-only page then anything they publish is public domain and can be redistributed unless there's a specific caveat preventing it - it's akin to a company saying "you can't tell people what products we're selling if you think they might like them". All Razormaid do is pay anonymous fanboys to remix established songs and then sell them on for an extortionate amount to "DJ's" who never play the songs in clubs anyway - as far as I, and anyone with common sense is concerned, Razormaid are peddling profit from the creativity of the original artists, and are not different from the bootleggers themselves. Fuck 'em in their useless ear canals. At least it's in Florida. I need a little sun! Anyone with more information about him, please assist us. He also got the New Order, so we have been double fucked, so to speak. Those of you who would like to voice your opinion on his behavior, especially after reading that fucking posting on the DM fan club site... here is his address: heydj70@excite.com Thanks guys, Yale - ------- + Ceremony mailing list web page: http://www.monkey.org/~laps/ceremony/ + To talk to a person, send mail to . ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jan 2003 12:34:37 -0600 From: "-1" Subject: (Fac33) [mp3] -> _new_order___rocking_carol(flexi)___ 'rocking' hi new-order'ers, [mp3] so we continue, and on with the 'non-retro' tracks ... for this one, i've chosen the strange version of 'rocking carol'..from the christmas flexi disc.. [history] new order's sixth release, 'ode to joy' on the b-side this technically wasn't really a commercial release, you had to be at the hacienda that night when they were giving these out.. it turns out that it really was new order who did these tracks.. it appears only on the flexi vinyl release, and not on cd... (from the new order discography) Nowhere on the flexi does it say that it is New Order performing the songs, but it has been confirmed later that it actually is New Order. [review] this is one of those strange releases, that people hear about, but aren't that excited after they get it.. its just more of the same standard keyboard/vocoder effects in a little song.. more of a joke really... i've also cleaned up some of the pops/clicks, and reduced the noise.. hope you enjoy it.. feel free to post your thoughts on it... I've heard some of their > mixes and they > sound like they're done with a kitchen blender for a mixing desk. Note: I'm not saying that R's actions are justified. AFAIK, R is not a bootleg company. They have a licensing deal with the label (correct me if I've gotten this wrong) and often have to clear remixes with the artist and/or management. The licensing deal for companies distributing *promotional* material includes not selling the material to non professional DJs. Perhaps R is very concerned about loosing their partner status with the labels if the labels see R products flowing freely in the market. I don't blame them. BTW: I have always liked their remixes. So shoot me for finding their material on Substance Abuse and in second-hand vinyl stores... > They never seemed bothered about the bootleg firms who released endless > "Depeche Mode Razormaid Mix" bootleg CD's and now they're going after That has always surpriced me, but I believe DM is much more willing to accept fan-remixes/bootlegs because they have a very, very dedicated fan-base.
