Mr -1, I really appreciate your efforts, but will you also please sump up in the next days the digests you've been polluting with your own posts, in fact this is becoming a -1 mailing list... The information and input of oeffort into digitizing old songs from vinyl to mp3 is greatly appreciated, but I think I (and some might agree) haven't subscribed to a -1 mailing list, so pleeeease if you could make your posts slightly shorter, or merge them, I dunno... As for Razormaid, to hell. Don't buy their stuff, even at discount prices. Their stuff is floating here and there on FTPs so why bother giving your money to some wankers who are not even allowed to press those CDs since they probably have no real contractual agreement. The guys haven't been really really nice with some members here, and I think it is about time we put an end to their mess by deciding not to buy any of their stuff anymore. I've listened to their "In Hindsight 2", and it's all about masturbation for minds. Well, it's not anymore, thanks to your post...:) It's not like -1's posts are off-topic. I'll readily admit the format is a bit...unique...but it's easily filterable if you find it bothersome. Certainly a lot more useful than random complaints. Digest mode in general is a bit irksome anyway, though it's supposed to be less stressful for the maiiserver. > input of oeffort into digitizing old songs from vinyl to mp3 is greatly > appreciated, but I think I (and some might agree) haven't subscribed to a > -1 mailing list, so pleeeease if you could make your posts slightly > shorter, or merge them, I dunno... There's always the NewOrderOnline forums...which I believe he uses as well. > As for Razormaid, to hell. Don't buy their stuff, even at discount prices. Agreed. Joseph Watt strikes me as being a bit of wanker, especially if he's if he's razormaking artists that he doesn't even *like*. Search the archives to see some of the stuff he's been quoted as saying. Hrm, guess what? Maybe we need a search function for the mailing list...stay tuned. > Their stuff is floating here and there on FTPs so why bother giving your > money to some wankers who are not even allowed to press those CDs since > they probably have no real contractual agreement. I think it was pointed out that apparently they *do* have some agreement with the record companies. What I don't understand is how they can offer it to NewOrderOnline.com members without violating the terms of their contractual agreements (see http://www.razormaid.com/index2.htm) since I doubt very many of us are "working DJ's"...I don't think using Sonic Foundry's Acid to jiggle around Crystal bits counts. :) > I've listened to their "In Hindsight 2", and it's all about masturbation > for minds. Nerver before had I heard so much energy in a Confusion, even though it's like nine minutes of the same thing. These last remixes are definetly worth it, can't remember at the moment which one I like the best, but do pick up the CD5. Too bad the CD5 doesn't have the full-length mixes. > I saw on hmv.co.uk an item called 'Leeds, Austin vs. New > Order -- Total > Confusion 2002'. The Music for pleasure CD cover was designed by Peter Saville. He is notoriously known to use expensive high-quality fonts. The font used on (the best of) NewOrder was Adobe Barmeno and I remember that being $99. This is one of the reasons why graphic designers and design firms charge so much for their work. Apparently, fonts are pirated and illegaly distributed a lot on the internet. It seems the only way in order to pay the font designers to make up for the money they have lost from piracy is to hike up the price. The software used to make high-quality fonts is also quite expensive. The best high-quality font creation program out there is Fontlab 4.5 and its is $549. Perhaps they will drop the price down in the near future. I am going to school for graphic design and i have numerous font reference books. I just happened to notice that Berthold Imago was indentical to the font used on the Music for pleasure CD and thought i should pass the info along to Monaco fans.
