[history] from the 12th single they released, and the second one from the album 'low-life' this is the b-side... they release two/three different mixes of this on the 12", but the full versions have never appeared on cd yet... (this single is also called 'subvulture' on some releases like the US 12").. also note, that this is one of the few singles that doesn't have unique artwork designed for it.. the uk singles all have black covers, as do the us/japanese ones.. however, there is different typography done by peter saville for the releases.. [review] if you haven't heard this mix before, brace yourself.. while this mix is similar to the 'sub-culture' 12", it has some major differences.. there's some cooler stutter edits in it, and some neat industrial sounds also.. and there's a lot less vocals in it...its still a radical departure from the album version... feel free to post your thoughts on it... check it out.. i've cleaned up the clicks/pops, and reduced the noise on it.. [reviews] - ------------------------------------------- here are the details for the fan edit version of the video for 'the perfect kiss'... i took the video edit version from a recent release...and combined it with a fan edit of the 'alternate' version of the audio... if you haven't heard the alternate version, check it out, its got some slightly different effects, and sounds.. the vocals are really quiet..but the instruments are higher in the mix.. it took a few hours, and a lot, (i mean a lot) of editting to get it to match the video version.. however, i really like the result.. someday, i'll try to do it with the full 9min+ version.... this is a HUGE 56Meg file, so i haven't figured out what to do with it... if anyone's interested, i'll try to figure out how to post it somewhere.... It bothers some people more than others. I don't read the digest, so I don't have a problem with it... of course, I don't usually read -1's posts, either. I think it's just frustration between -1's AR/obsessive nature and his writing style... you have to admit, it's very liberal on the 'enter key'. (again, no offense) That said, it does provide this mailing list some sort of activity, and his posting of mp3 links of non-CD track is beneficial to some people on the list. First up, you should try and track down the limited edition Cosmos remix of ‘Sunglasses’ which fuses the original with New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’. [history] from the 12th single they released, and the second one from the album 'low-life'... lets just say that other people were involved in making this remix.. i guess it was an english magazine that included this 7", with an 'exclusive' remix (or edit) of this version.. i consider it official, as it uses original vocals, and seems to be sanctioned by the group... [review] this actually isn't all that bad...there's some vocals near the end that are by someone else, that i don't care for.. but all in all, i think its better than some of the official versions.. [location] there's no location for this file... lets just say, if you been getting the other ones.. keep your eyes open, because you never know what will show up.. (hint: look for the letter s1).... later | || ||| || || n e g a tive 1 'you are alone' ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Mar 2003 12:38:57 EST From: GaoBest@aol.com Subject: Re: (Fac33) _one_of_these_days_ Is this because you don't like "subculture"? :-) Who is the female singing on this song, anyway? (yeah there's exceptions, some of the flexis, and limited promo only items).. however, i think you can easily obtain 80%-90% of all singles/remixes... and not have to be incredibly rich, or go broke getting them... if you prefer cd's, all you need to do is hook up your stereo to your computer, download a few programs (many of which are free/shareware)...and there you go.. i'm not trying to dissuade people from getting the tracks (by getting them in mp3 format)... in fact, i hope this further prompts people to investigate all the releases, and cool artwork that is out there.. yeah, you may have some of the compilations on cd...but having the originals is much more satisfying, aesthetically, and for artistic purposes...not to mention the great music! later || || | | || | ne g ativ e 1 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Mar 2003 09:06:59 -0600 From: "Ivarsson, Torbjorn (T)" Subject: RE: (Fac33) [ot:reply] -> _factors_and_collecting_ > -----Original Message----- > From: -1 [mailto:rajg@nol.net] > Sent: Friday, March 07, 2003 7:48 PM > >>>ebay is interesting, it has changed collecting forever. > > now with ebay, yeah things may have > changed at first (when people first > discovered it)...however, now that > most of the hardcore collectors have > found what they want...i don't think > its being used as much.. Hmm, I would order your list completely up-side-down and start with eBay. Of course that is just my view. The mailing lists these day are mostly asking for trades, and the on-line stores usually have rather high prices. That doesn't mean that occasionally gems can be found... eBay appears to have a more reasonable pricing - except of course on some items involving bidder with too much cash... :) And I disagree that eBay do not have a lot of items - rare or not. Of course some of the very, very rarest items can't be found there, but they can't be found anywhere else either. Just like browsing the used bin in a record store or at a record fair, you can't expect to find the interesting items every time you're there. But it seems to me that eBay offers much better opportunity to expand your collection with the rare items. I agree with you that eBay is a good way to also get a hold of the "basic" releases, especially vinyl. > however, i think you can easily obtain > 80%-90% of all singles/remixes... > > and not have to be incredibly rich, > or go broke getting them... Just like in many other areas, I think one could have a rule for collectors like: the last 20% of your wanted items will cost you 80% of your money... /T ------------------------------ End of ceremony-digest V2003 #19 ******************************** ------- + For information on subscribing/unsubscribing and the digest archives, + see the Ceremony web page: http://www.monkey.org/~laps/ceremony/ + To talk to a person, send mail to .
