It's too early to talk about the tracklisting, but apparently, it will be 2 chronological CDs, one containing a bulk of One True Passion & Gun World Porn, and the other CD will contain remixes and unreleased tracks. Peter Hook is currently working on the first CD and there will be a re-recorded versions of two songs (unknown yet). In the words of David Potts: "..The only info at the mo is that it will be 2 chronological CDs. One containing a bulk of One True Passion & GWP. The other (also chronological) with all the remixes, unreleased tracks etc. Peter is working on the first at the moment. There'll be a re recorded version of two songs. Is anyone else going to the gig? There's a new Crispy Ambulance live CD (free with initial copies of the compilation 'Black Music') and a Biting Tongues compilation CD out now via LTM/Darla - see http://home.planet.nl/%7Efrankbri/index.html for more details. The 'Black Music' compilation also features tracks produced or remixed by members of New Order (Thick Pigeon - Steve & Gillian, Stockholm Monsters - Hooky). Post-808, good question! He hasn't recorded anything new with the Tongues since '88/'89, but there was a new 808 album out last year (pretty good as well), so I guess it should be 'pre'! Graham's got his fingers in quite a few pies at the moment - 808 State, Homelife (Ninja Tunes), Toolshed (out soon on Twisted Nerve), Biting Tongues, so he's keeping himself quite busy! Oh yeah, there should be a pre-Newbuild album out later on this year called 'Prebuild' via the Rephlex label. It's comprised mainly of demos, live jams, etc. l8rs, Nick ;-) > -----Original Message----- > From: Al Jarvis [mailto:amjarvis@netcomuk.co.uk] > > > > Is anyone else going to the gig? > > Yep, few of us from 'NOOL' going, though am just back from a few pre-gig > beers before Puressence at the Scala tonight (I couldn't be arsed with the > gig itself) and anticipation for said excursion was severely waning > (everyone looking forward to Ladyton at the Ocean on Friday instead)! > > Shouldn't Biting Tongues be 'post' 808 State?! > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Nick King" > > > > Both ex-Factory bands, Crispy Ambulance and Biting Tongues > (pre-808 State > > band featuring Graham Massey), are performing a one-off live date at the > ICA > > in London this Thursday. > > > > Is anyone else going to the gig? > > > > There's a new Crispy Ambulance live CD (free with initial copies of the > > compilation 'Black Music') and a Biting Tongues compilation CD > out now via > > LTM/Darla - see http://home.planet.nl/%7Efrankbri/index.html for more > > details. Again, thanks to GaoBest for providing me with the CDs. The writeup is archived in full at http://www.new-order.net/no/gigs/nogigs.html#NO-870206) I'm not including the full text this time because the band just decide to belt out the songs and there's not really all that much notworthy to comment on (save for the final song). The performances are uniformly excellent... Here's the setlist, which I believe is heretofore unpublished (waterrat, NOOL, et al, update your sites!). The band were in a Lowlife kind of mood, playing no less than all but two from that album (as well as the outtake!) Blue Monday Love Vigilantes Let's Go This Time Of Night Every Little Counts Way Of Life Subculture Perfect Kiss Sunrise Face Up Temptation (encore) Do The Ostrich I've included my notes for 'Do The Ostrich' The Order are taking their sweet time coming back on, as it's been six plus minutes...but they eventually appear back on to perform...Do The Ostrich! To hear the original version, (Lou Reed and the Primitives) check out: http://www.spearedpeanut.com/prevutracks/ostrich.ram The lyrics (for the original): http://www.neworderonline.com/song.asp?song_id=78 New Order's version has no vocal resemblence to that, by the way, save for the chorus. Great solo in this. The drumbeats also speed up near the end, a la Sister Ray. Do The Ostrich - -------------- You told me I was no good for you You told me that I was a shit stream But I don't care cuz you got a hairy twat You said, Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! Do, Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! (slow down for this one) You told me that I was a cough(?) I couldn't care for me the fact that you were a deuce When I looked at you at night I thought that you were really shite I told you that I could... Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich! Do the ostrich, baby! You told me that I was no good You told me that I was no good You have a hairy twat like... (start getting up) You told me that I was no good You told me that... You said, Do the ostrich, baby! Do the ostrich, baby! Do the ostrich, baby! Do the ostrich, baby!
