Check out http://www.kay-cee.de/index2.html for a soundsample of the new electropop cover version of "Love will tear us apart". Here is the news release in German Language... Most important part is that remixes have been done by Martini Brös, Gus Gus and JCA...and that the Vinyl is limited and out now. CD out on 21.7. at least in Germany. Release is on Alphabet City / Polydor Zeitgeist-Label. 06/2003 Kaycee is back! AND in the interview they say they wanted to do a new interpretation and not just a cover... Most of them? How many bands have three solo projects with at least two albums each and still won't break up? As many dates as New Order may have played, that's the easy part. I'd be surprised if they were in the same room together during the recording of the past two albums. Why else would Get Ready take so long to record considering how few layers of instrumentation are on each track? Most of the synths weren't even done by them. Granted they might not have broken up yet, but this is like late period Beatles we're talking about. They're not exactly a tight knit group anymore. Gillian used her children as an excuse to leave, but it's obvious she didn't have much of a role in the band anymore. Like I said, gigs are the easy part. New Order hasn't had much interest in creativity since Technique. At least not as New Order. When I hear Peter Hook playing on a Joy Division track, he's an integral part of the group. But these days when he parodies himself on a New Order track, it sounds more like a guest appearance rather than a member of the band. So while a lot of that article is wishful thinking and incomplete, I agree that N.O. hasn't really existed since 89. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! The set will be available both on CD and as a limited DJ friendly double vinyl set. Largely produced between 1983 and 1984 for release on Factory Records and Factory Benelux, the full tracklist runs as follows: 52nd STREET CAN'T AFFORD (TO LET YOU GO) 6.50 SECTION 25 LOOKING FROM A HILLTOP 8.07 * MARCEL KING REACH FOR LOVE 5.25 * QUANDO QUANGO LOVE TEMPO 6.58 * 52nd STREET COOL AS ICE 7.25 * PAUL HAIG THE ONLY TRUTH 7.02 * QUANDO QUANGO ATOM ROCK 6.42 * NYAM NYAM FATE/HATE 8.03 LIFE TELL ME 3.04 THICK PIGEON BABCOCK + WILCOX 3.43 SECTION 25 BEATING HEART 5.02 BE MUSIC THEME 3.04 Please note that those tracks marked with an asterisk* were co-produced by Be Music (Bernard Sumner) and DoJo (Donald Johnson, of A Certain Ratio). Nyam Nyam and the Be Music Theme were produced by Peter Hook, and Life and Thick Pigeon by Steve Morris and Gillian Gilbert. Several of these tracks, including Love Tempo, Looking From a Hilltop and Cool As Ice remain influential club classics, and have been extensively sampled and bootlegged. Several years before the great house explosion, with their own Hacienda club still empty every single night, yet way (too far?) ahead of their time, four guys and a girl from Manchester produced a whole bunch of pure sonic magic which made waves worldwide. Listen to these crucial cuts by 52nd Street, Quando Quango, Section 25, Paul Haig and the late Marcel King, and marvel that the civil list has not yet rewarded their endeavours. The album has been digitally remastered and runs for 74 minutes. The vinyl version will be limited to just 1000 copies." YAY - 'Be Music Theme' on CD for not much money, and some New Order-related productions on one CD! l8rs, Nick ;-) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Jun 2003 10:26:35 +0100 From: Brian McGee Subject: RE: (Fac33) [worst post-b reakup debacles] Interesting points you make there Eddie. The guy who owns one of the studios they recorded Get Ready in happens to be someone I know very well - and was saying to me that they seriously enjoyed the session. From what he said it sounds very much like they are a tight-knit group, Gillian clearly either had no further interest or as you say yourself, no further role. No, nothing is wrong. :) Until it cuts out, that is. This is wonderful. Can't wait to get my order so I can hear the rest of it. Or am I too easily impressed with random synth bleeps, acoustic guitar, and Hooky? The best part is 3:02 with the faraway guitar and piano keys. About the closest thing it resembles in the canon is maybe 14k by Revenge, at least the bassline, anyway. I received more CDs from GaoBest. Give that man a medal! Another writeup coming in the next few days. - --Sam ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2003 10:02:04 -0400 From: "Brian Cameron" Subject: Re: (Fac33) Loops Well my original plan of loading the loops up to my ISP webspace crashed-and-burned when I discovered the files are about 40meg in size and I only have 10 meg of space. The looks are broken up into 5 packs and a starterpack -- each one under the 10 meg limit. So, I thought I could post them one at a time over the next couple weeks, but that just sucks for everyone. I'm willing to make a few copies and post them. Can someone that has the 2-18-87 Melbourne gig PLEASE play their copy, especially in the early part of encore1 "Your Silent Face" - is there a DJ scratching onstage? This has happened a few other times during this gig, but the most salient moment is in YSF. It drives me crazy to listen to this because it sounds so good, and the scratching is so cool, and yet I can't figure out *why* there's a scratcher just at this Melbourne show... Maybe someone on this list was at the gig and can explain the situation. Thanks! xox Mike ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2003 22:42:38 EDT From: GaoBest@aol.com Subject: (Fac33) Feb 11 '87 Dee Why Hotel Hey kids Wow, this gig ends in a fucking blast - Blue Monday (w/ ace drum-machine jam), Ceremony, and an encore of As It Is When It Was (with the line "I used to think when my dick was long" among other scorchers) and BLT! Wow. Fucking amazing. xox Mike ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2003 19:48:43 -0700 (PDT) From: dj dust Subject: Re: (Fac33) weekend pressie all I'm getting is 5 MB worth - definitely not 41 MB... - --- David Sydenham wrote: > I have uploaded the New Order Saville Show > Soundtrack for those you unable > to get the CD/come to London etc. > > http://www.oasiscommunications.com/dsydenham/dropzone/NewOrderSoundtrack/ > > There are still roughly approx 2,000 at the design > museum but "selling fast" > I am told. > > Enjoy > > Dave > > MP3 file (192Kb 41mb) please download over the > weekend as I will delete it > on Monday morning.
