Almost forgot that I had these online for forever. http://www.new-order.net/no/audio/redparrot.html This was all that remained of New Order's final show during their 1987 Australian tour, thanks to a bad cassette. But what was captured is indeed priceless, and well worth a listen. (NB to GaoBest: seems like the copy I have has quite a bit less hiss than yours, so once I can find the master cassette, I'll burn you a copy) Also, added a couple of Joy Division videos to http://www.new-order.net/av ('Shadowplay' from the 1978 BBC performance and the Corbijn-directed 'Atomosphere' video). I distinctly recall that it was derided at the time of its release ("what, midgets in black and white robes with Klan-style hoods?") but I think it serves as a suitable elegy to the group. I wonder if all the photos used in that video were also shot by Corbijn. Which reminds me, how's that JOY DIVISION SALE OF THE CENTURY auction going? Let's look... Haha, despite speculations to the contrary, it looks like the reserve is _higher_ than the 5k quid figure many were postulating, as that's where the highest bid stands currently. I don't doubt that in a day or so, these items will be the property of David Sultan, the question is only how much will he need to bid to meet the reserve? - --Sam ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Jul 2003 09:34:35 +0100 From: "Duddridge Lee" Subject: RE: (Fac33) soundtrack Ahhhh, but should someone have offered you this in one of the "Great = Neworder Droughts"=20 e.g. 96/97 you wouldn't have thought it a lot of money at all. Call me a cynic, but maybe reserve was set to something like 100,000 pounds, so the purported seller could get an idea of the market price for the real sale (privately) later. I haven't caught up with the NOL forum threads, so maybe somebody has a better theory. - --Sam - --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Of course, there are limits to diversity, earth is a single point of failure for the foreseeable future." -- Sean Donelan - --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 1970 06:12:56 -0800 From: John Frye Subject: Re: (Fac33) Joy Division Sale Of The Century Sounds like a honest deal. I'm sure there are more collections out there like it that will pop up from time to time. Ian's autographs are rare. I do think the reserve was too high- didn't David get the highest bid? I think the end bid was reasonable value. I also think individual items being sold would bring him a better deal because one person bidding can afford to spend a lot more on one item. - -john rfrye On Saturday, July 12, 2003, at 07:29 AM, Nicolas LeBlanc wrote: > Check this out: > > http://www.neworderonline.com/ > thread.asp?action=&thread_id=10214&forum_id=1 > > Might be of interest for all those that followed this auction.
